Researchers who wish to request data must observe the following procedure:
- To read carefully the requirements specified on the following fold ("Requirements").
In the fold "Data available" appears the questionnaires
for each year, a summary table of the sample evolution and further supplementary
information. The overview of the questionnaires is advisable for having
a more detailed understanding of the procedures for the elaboration of the
variables.

The researcher who wishes to make a request or consult
the available variables must register herself in the Database (in the fold
"Researcher access") filling in the required fields. The researcher
will receive a confirmation e-mail, which he must answer when she accesses
the web page which is attached to the link. If she is already registered,
she will be asked to enter her e-mail address and the code which she chose
when she registered.

Once the e-mail address and the code are entered, a new
window is accessed, with a new set of folds.

In the first of these folds ("Variables available")
detailed information is provided about each variable. These can be ordered
according to different criteria, and a detailed description about how they
were created is also included. It is advisable to take notes about the variables
which might be of interest.

The request of variables requires to fill in the basic
information about the project for which they are requested, which must be
done on the fold "Projects". In it, besides the title and a short
summary, it is required to state the name of the other participants and
of the main Researcher. Besides, it is necessary to enter the invoice data.
IMPORTANT:
Fundación SEPI has the right of not providing information to those
requests which do not meet the criteria stipulated in the fold "Requirements".
The data which are introduced in the fold "Projects" are the basic
data. Once the request has been formalized, the Researcher must submit by
e-mail to the following address the following documents:
- Report of the project
- Statement of the Researcher or the Person in charge of the project

Through the fold "Projects" selection is made
of the variables and the time period for each of them which is requested.
The variables are added to a "basket" for which the cost is submitted.
In case that no errors are made, this will be the cost (without VAT) that
will appear in the invoice.
It must be taken into account that the price for the variables is not always
the same, ranging between 2 and 4 € depending on three characteristics:

Whether the requested fields have a yearly or a four-yearly
nature

The complexity level in their construction
-
The continuous or discrete nature of the variable.
The price always makes reference to those companies for which there is information
available for that specific year and variable (i.e. for a file on which rows
include the company code).
IMPORTANT:
The request of a variable with a four-year periodicity
entails that Fundación SEPI will provide all the information which is available
up to that time. If the four-year variable belongs to a remote period (for
instance, to 1994/1997) the information is already closed. However, if the
information corresponds to a current four-year period (let us suppose that
for 2006/2009) and information is requested up to the last year available
(let us suppose that up to 2006), Fundación SEPI will supply the information
up to that year. The availability at a later time of information for that
four-year period variable for the companies which enter into the sample
(in the example above, between 2007 and 2009) will require on the part of
the User to request again the variable, which will include all the companies
for which there is information up to that time. It must be borne in mind
that, due to the design of the panel, a significant percentage of companies
(usually around 80%) answer the four-year variables during the first year
of each four-year period.

Once all the variables for which the request is made have
been selected, click on the button "To close the project ". It
is possible to complete the data of the request in different sessions before
clicking this button. It is important not to close the project until you
are sure that you are not going to request any more variables.
For requesting updates for projects which have already been authorized,
you have to click on the fold "Update and extension" and follow
the instructions specified there.

Once the project is closed (click the button "To close
the project"), the system generates a file which is sent to Fundación
SEPI, which reviews the request and later prepares an invoice which is sent
to the e-mail address of the Researcher specified in "Projects".
The Researcher must inform Fundación SEPI that the payment has been
made (for instance, by facsimile with transfer receipt). Once the Fundación
has verified that the payment has been made, and having validated the required
documentation (Report and Statement by the Researcher or by the person in
charge of the project), the variables are sent by e-mail (see characteristics
of the files on the fold "Data files") to the Researchers
address.
